WHAT IS THE LAUNCESTON URBAN FRINGE TRAIL?
John from Ascent Fitness conceived and designed the Launceston Urban Fringe Trail (LUFT), a fully-connected pedestrian trail or city walk around the urban fringe of Greater Launceston. You can walk the LUFT at your own pace, any time. Or you can join The Great Lonnie Stomp, a 100 kilometre walking challenge around the LUFT over 48 hours on the weekend of the 6-7 April 2019.
From Riverside to Newnham and St Leonards to Blackstone Heights, the 100 km mixed urban/ trail circuit has produced a number of different programs and events. Find your way to explore the LUFT here:

10 WEEK LUFT TRAINING PROGRAM
You can’t beat a classic and this 10-week, 10km per session program is where the 100km Launceston Urban Fringe Trail (LUFT) was born. Starting at the flat sections of the course and finishing with the hardest sections, you will walk yourself into fitness as you go along each week and walk through areas of Launceston that you didn’t know existed. What is there not to like!
ON THE DAY
At the start of Session 1, we meet at Tailrace Park to start the UFT: a 10-session, 100km walking adventure around the urban fringe of greater Launceston!
Transport will be waiting for the group at the end of each section to return us to the start. The next session will commence from where the previous session ended. Bring water and weather-appropriate clothing.
