Upskill & Increase Fitness

Hiking Skills Training

Personalised individual training

Are you interested in hiking?  Do you want to see more of Tassie’s outdoors, but not sure how to get yourself ready?  Our hiking skills training can start for complete beginners and upskill you while you are getting fitter.  If you’ve already got the basics down, we can help you expand your knowledge and be ready for bigger challenges.

Our individual sessions are also suitable for people supported by the NDIS where this activity supports their plan goals.

If you’re not sure about diving straight into hiking skills, let’s get started with a Walking Fitness Test.

Once you’re upskilled and have a bit of fitness on board, you will have the opportunity to join our weekend hiking group – The Blue Sign Hiking Society – for more adventures in great company!

What to Expect

  • Upskill so you can see more of Tassie’s Outdoors
  • Start from complete beginner level or expand your existing knowledge
  • Suitable for NDIS participants in achieving their plan goals.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much time does it take?

Sessions vary in length but, with travel time to some locations, return times can be in the evenings. We suggest not having a must-not-miss event in the evening of a Blue Sign Hiking Society adventure.

How are the participants transported?

Participants can travel to the trailhead in their own vehicle, or meet at the local mustering point to arrange carpooling.

I have an injury, can I still join?
Our Blue Sign Hiking Society adventures are often in remote locations where hazards are part of the terrain.  Your capacity to participate fully and unaided is important for your safety and the safety of everyone else.  Any injury or medical condition must be disclosed prior to departure.  To avoid being sent home on the day of the adventure, having a conversation with John leading up to the event is the best approach.
I am pregnant. Is this walk suitable for me?
Generally, walking is OK during pregnancy.  However, we ask that you come with specific advice from your GP or Obstetrician on what is appropriate for you.
